International Business Is Calling - Already for Long and Still, Especially B2B and SMEs

Even when looking to Germany as the 'export champion' Mr. Grillo is still right. However, evaluating the basic export figures as 'exports per capita' Germany is - as per World-Factbook of the CIA, 2011 - still only number 6 when looking to Europe only.

Outside of Europe the first five are: Singapore, Hong Kong, Belgium, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates. Here Germany ranks at 9. A more detailed analysis with graphics can be found via the website 'News' at the right hand side.

Bearing in mind, that the strongest industrial region of the world is Europe - it is absolutely worthwhile for any foreign supplier to go there/come here. First because it would strengthen their local economies/companies and secondly because this will help to relieve the European foreign trade balance.

However, doing business abroad needs answers to a few questions which should/could/have to be looked at if the task is to become more successful, to stabilize the company and to become more resistant to recessions.

Exporting companies always have advantages over others because it shows their increased stability towards any buyer and - just in case -, as recessions do not have the same timing and consequences in the various worlds' regions they are less affected, as the past has shown. Recessions do have the unpleasant character to repeat...

Some questions for exporting companies - especially those producing investment goods or parts thereof - are as follows:

  • Which companies - either in all industrially advanced countries of the world or in specific target countries - are potential clients for us, per market and/or market segment (industrial field/activity, size of the client company, product requirements, etc.)?
  • Could the clients supplied so far act as a basis for some kind of 'multiplication' into other countries - i. e. do other countries have the same or similar technical needs, standards, etc.?
  • Which are the 'buying habits' in which countries as per market segment - distributor, sales-/synergy partners, direct sales, etc.?
  • How can the customer service needs be satisfied - just and only locally, via internet diagnosis, or what else?
  • Who is the competition, coming from where, with which advantages/disadvantages compared to us, and how / where could we possibly be better?... and
  • How can they be confronted successfully?

These are but a few questions - besides of foreign taxes, foreign languages spoken in the respective producing company, transport questions, etc. - which are paramount in order to evaluate if and where a company could succeed in the future. Additional questions refer also to the own core competencies, capacity for innovation, possibly new/different market segments, and last not least, the financial engagement possible/planned for this - certainly successful task.

In addition lots of more questions have to be answered regarding the specifics of each and every company, but only after the data needed are available, the correct conclusions can be drawn.

A good guiding principle could be the following hint of Albert Einstein:

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand."

Imagination is, besides of a thorough analysis, one of the most important activities in marketing, in order to make comprehensive use of a companies capabilities.

Not to be forgotten, however, also is that the Internet plays a vital role in making the enterprise known, getting first contacts, showing the technical and social capabilities, underlining its competences in problem solving, etc. Starting from general search results to the presence in specialized portals, press releases - in the respective countries! - and more.

Note:

Marketing is incomplete without internet. But, internet without a suitable marketing strategy is as well incomplete - and - most probably a senseless effort.

Summary: Tackle the international markets which are of interest and use to you... now.

The Global Domains International Business - Will it Work For You?

I have heard many things about the global domains international business. Some great things and some bad things. It seems like there are tons of people interested to get involved with them but at the same time, may be scared to lose their money or wonder if the company is going to even last that long. Are you in that situation? If so that's fine and I am sure you are going to find this article beneficial.

After doing some research though I realized they have been around for more than 10 years now. That is pretty rare and you will not find that with most other companies that are on the net. Also, I hear people saying that they will be gone, but that's just a plain old lie! There have been no signs of anything slowing down with the global domains international business so if you hear otherwise...just look the other.

So is this business going to be right for you? That is something I believe no one can figure out except yourself. Every business out there will fit an individual the same.

The people who succeed with this company are highly motivated. They don't let little things get in the way of their success. If you quit easy, then no home business is for you! Yeah I think you need to read that line again. Also, in order to make money you must not be afraid to invest. What business can you name that doesn't invest some money to make it grow? Not many.

But this doesn't mean you should be paying huge prices to get involved with companies also. GDI is capitalizing on this big time by keeping it affordable for all, and staying that way throughout the years. Most companies raise their prices and fees, but I do not see that happening here at all.

Culture Shock and International Business - Tips for Women

If this is your first trip outside the U.S., you are probably looking forward to the new, exciting experiences that are in store for you. Unfortunately, when you arrive in your first foreign country, instead of feeling excited and full of energy, you may unexpectedly feel depressed, disoriented and lonely, especially if you are traveling alone. The greater the difference between this foreign culture and the American culture you're familiar with, the more pronounced these feelings might be. The technical term for this is "culture shock."

For many Americans in foreign countries, the language barrier is often the most difficult issue to cope with. If you do not know some simple phrases in the language of your host country, you will feel very isolated. How do you communicate with others to find a place to eat or to find your way around town? What do you do for entertainment? The movies are in a foreign language and there are few places available where you can socialize easily. You suddenly feel very alienated.

Dealing with foreign currency can also be a problem. You have to do mental calculations every time you try to buy something. How much does this cost? All of these coins look alike. How much change do I get back? This can be very intimidating, especially if bargaining for goods is part of the culture.

While a brief, voluntary exposure to a new culture can be temporarily unsettling, with some awareness of what you are experiencing and a few techniques to deal with it, you will soon begin to enjoy your visit. Before your trip, learn as much as you can about the culture you are going to visit. Read some books on the history and customs of the country. Travel videos are especially helpful and readily available from the library. Get some foreign language audiotapes from the library as well and learn a few important phrases, such as "Where's the bathroom?" "Waiter," "How much is this?" "Please," and "Thank you." You'll likely run into foreigners who speak some English and who love to practice it on visitors. If you know a few phrases in their language they are often encouraged to try out their English on you. Also learn something about food names and ingredients so you will feel more secure in ordering from the menu in a restaurant. If you have the opportunity, seek out some ethnic restaurants at home and try out these exotic foods before you leave.

Plan to do some sightseeing in your spare time. Make a list of the key tourist attractions and find out from a travel agent how to get there from your hotel. Take a city tour after you arrive to familiarize yourself with the area. You can usually book English-speaking tours at your hotel once you arrive. Plan to keep yourself busy. Above all, don't hide out in your hotel room moping.

There are many American and other internationally-known hotel chains in most countries. The staff there usually speaks English quite well and the hotel will quickly become your home away from home if you feel comfortable in it. Look for a hotel with a gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, several restaurants, a sundry shop and perhaps a lounge where you can relax in the evening. Get the business card of a reliable taxi service as well as the hotel card with its address and phone number in the local language and be sure to keep it with you when you go out. Show it to the taxi driver when you are ready to go back to the hotel. Some hotels even offer a shuttle service to the center of town as well as to the airport so you don't have to bother with taxis. Become friendly with the hotel concierge who will usually have walking maps, restaurant suggestions, theater and museum tickets, and shopping tips and who is there to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Women traveling alone have the added burden of being an anomaly in some foreign countries where few women are employed in executive positions in the business world. You might find people staring or being downright rude. Ignore them. Focus on your strengths, take a few deep breaths, relax and move on.

Exhaustion is also common when traveling. Jet lag is a physical phenomenon and the greater the change in time, the more time needed to adjust. On some trips you may find night and day completely reversed from home. In addition, major cities in Europe, Asia, and South America are quite congested and have a higher level of noise and air pollution than you may be used to. When all of the noise and congestion begins to feel overwhelming, take time out to relax. Get plenty of sleep, eat lightly and drink lots of fluid, preferably bottled water. Get some exercise every day even if it is just a walk around the block (if the area is safe). Bring your laptop computer. Remember your friends and family are only an e-mail away. Above all, keep your sense of humor. This is an experience to be enjoyed; make the most of it.

Feelings You May Have

o Depression: When you have to deal with great multitudes of people speaking a foreign tongue, and with vastly different customs and lifestyles, it is easy to become anxious and irritable. The resulting feeling of being helpless to do anything about your situation can lead to depression and an overall loss of energy.

o Disorientation: You may be traveling to countries where English is not used on street signs, office buildings, or restaurants. Panic can set in quickly. It is not only very frustrating to try to find your way in an unfamiliar environment, but it can also be frightening when you don't recognize where you are and realize that you can't just ask anyone to help you.

o Intimidation: We all like to feel that we are organized and in control of our environment. In other countries, however, you may feel frustrated and thwarted by the numerous steps it may take to do a simple task such as paying for some purchase.

o Alienation: When you travel abroad, you may feel out of place, particularly if you don't speak the language. In many countries it is not likely that you will be invited to join a social group or even be approached at a social gathering. You will more likely be left on your own, which may cause you to feel rejected and uncertain about how to proceed.

o Boredom: Because of language difficulties, there are not many places you can easily visit in the evenings or on weekends. Since you don't know too many people, you can't even make phone calls to lessen your isolation. Sightseeing presents both transportation and language problems as do sojourns to the movies and theater -- but how many times can you watch the same CNN or Sky Net programs on TV?

o Exhaustion: You truly do expend more energy doing less when you are on the road. Adjusting to jet lag, getting to your business appointments on time, maneuvering through crowds on the street, finding a cab, and haggling with a shopkeeper over prices when you are trying to pick up a few souvenirs can be physically and mentally exhausting.

Attitude Adjustments

Recognizing that any uncomfortable or negative feelings you're experiencing in this new culture are normal will help alleviate your discomfort. It's also helpful to know that others have similar reactions. Remind yourself that you are traveling for a purpose and that you'll be going home when your job is done. Here are some suggestions that may help ease your adjustment:

o Take care of your health. Get plenty of sleep and be careful about what you eat and drink. Get daily exercise.

o Relax. When the noise and crowds get to you, take some time out for yourself. Consider bringing a tape deck and a relaxation tape with you to listen to for twenty minutes a day. Luxuriate in a bubble bath.

o Don't mope around your hotel room. Stay active: jog, swim, or join a local exercise group if you have an extended stay. Take a walk through a local park or visit a museum (check with your hotel first on what areas are not safe and should be avoided). Re-center yourself by focusing on your strengths and pursuing your interests.

o Keep your sense of humor. Look for the amusing aspects of your situation. At least you will have lots of good stories to tell when you get home. Laughter releases tension.

o Know you are envied. Many people appreciate the exotica of other cultures and would give their eyeteeth to be in your position. This should bring you some sense of satisfaction.

o If you are traveling for an extended period of time, try bringing a few things from home to put in your room, such as photos, your favorite pillow and maybe some of your favorite CD's to play while walking around.

o Travel with a companion. If you know someone else who is also traveling on business, think about coordinating your schedules to meet for dinner or for sightseeing. It is easier to face a new environment as a team than to face it alone.

Preparing for Culture Shock

o Get to know the people you will visit. Use phone, fax, or letter to initiate your relationships. A friendly reception is more likely to await you when you arrive.

o If you are traveling to a country for the first time let your hosts know and ask them for some advice on what to do and see while you are there. You might find that they will spend more time with you if they know you are there for the first time, and may even make arrangements for you or help you arrange to see some cultural events or take a tour. Most hosts will appreciate your interest in their country and culture, and this will help enhance your relationship.

o List places you think you might want to visit. Jot down interesting day and evening destinations that you might like to visit in your spare time.

o Plan your days carefully, finding activities that will help you fill your spare time. If you are very busy, you will have little time to experience culture shock.

Exploring On Your Own

o If you can, take a city tour soon after you arrive. This is a safe and comfortable way to become familiar with your new environment. Short tours (about four hours) in English can usually be booked at the hotel, where you will be picked up and dropped off afterward. Tours also provide a good opportunity to meet other women business travelers.

o Do a little bit of sightseeing each day. Visiting even one city site on the way back to your hotel from a meeting or on the way to lunch or dinner will help give you a deeper understanding of the culture and the people.

o If the area is safe for walking (ask at the hotel), get a map and explore. Your hotel will provide a map of the surrounding area at your request. A walk through the neighborhood will help you see how people live and work. Be smart about walking and do so only during daylight hours and in safe areas.

o Hire a driver or use a taxi. In many countries it is very reasonable and a safe way to sightsee. Renting a car in foreign countries may be more than you can or would want to handle. In many countries public transportation is your best bet -- except during commuter hours when it may be very crowded.

o Plan your travel routes. Keep the telephone numbers of taxis, and bus and train route maps with you, as well as a card from your hotel in the local language in case you get lost. City maps can easily be obtained from tourist offices at the airport or downtown as well as from your hotel concierge or desk clerk.

o Establish familiar grounds. Frequent certain lunch and dinner spots and evening hangouts to help you establish a rapport with the owners and locals and make you feel like you're part of the group.

o Talk to locals who speak English. They appreciate the chance to practice their English and will be delighted at your interest in their culture and more than happy to answer your questions about it.

Adapting

o Be flexible. Allow plenty of time to get to appointments. Bring a book to read in case you have to wait. Try to figure out ways to avoid offending your hosts while satisfying your own needs.

o Be patient. People in foreign countries are not usually as direct or in as much of a rush as people in the U.S. When you feel yourself getting uptight, take a few deep breaths and visualize a calming scene. Remember that people won't behave the way you expect or want them to, and getting upset won't make you or them feel any better.

o Ask your hosts some questions about their country and culture. They will usually enjoy talking about it, which will help you better understand and appreciate what you are seeing.

o Develop friendships by showing interest in your hosts. This, in turn, will help overcome what you may initially perceive as a negative environment.

o Keep an open mind. Look for similarities and intriguing differences between your culture and the one you are visiting. Focus on the good aspects. Try role reversal--how would you react if a foreign businessperson visiting you in the United States insisted that their way of living and doing business was the only way? When you're in another country, remember to do as the locals do, since it is your ways that may seem strange or offensive to them.

o Try to remember to keep a sense of humor. When you feel confused, embarrassed, or upset, smile, smile, smile.

Free Time

It is inevitable when you travel that things won't always go according to plan. You will probably experience delays and have free time. In general, when you travel internationally it is wise to allow more time to get to where you are going. You will most likely experience a delay at airports, on public transportation or from traffic. You might have difficulty finding an address. You might also find that a meeting has been canceled or rescheduled once you have already arrived. In general, be prepared for unexpected free time.

Free Time During Travel

o Keep a book or some magazines handy to help pass the time. It can be very frustrating to sit in an airport with an extended delay with only one English newspaper available for sale at the newsstand.

o Bring a CD or cassette player with you with your favorite music or, even better, language tapes for the country you are visiting. It will help pass the time and help you learn some key phrases. (Remember to bring extra batteries.)

o Many airports have services for business travelers who are delayed. Some excellent stop-over points include: Heathrow Airport, in London, England; Frankfort International Airport, Germany; the Miami, Florida airport for those en route to Latin America; and the Singapore airport for those traveling in the Far East. Services may include health clubs, showers, swimming pools, movies, city tours, and nap rooms.

o If you plan to travel a lot, it is wise to join one of the many airline hospitality clubs offered by major airlines. These clubs provide a quiet area in which to relax in a comfortable environment during a long delay. You will most likely also meet other traveling businesswomen there. Many of these hospitality clubs serve refreshments and offer various other amenities such as TV, flight confirmation and magazines.

o If you are traveling overseas and have not joined a club, see if you are eligible for one-time use of a club in an international airport. Many times if you are flying business- or first-class the club entry is included with the flight as a layover courtesy.

Free Time at Your Destination

o If a meeting is canceled or postponed and you can't make business use of the time, take a tour to familiarize yourself with the area you are visiting. Your hosts will appreciate your efforts to understand their culture.

o If you don't have a lot of time to sightsee, walk around the city (ask first if it is safe to walk around and for suggested areas to walk) to get a feel for how the people live, eat, and interact with each other.

o If you have a part of a day which is free (due to a canceled meeting, for example) talk to your hotel concierge about a morning or afternoon tour or hire a taxi to take you to the major sight seeing spots.

o Many hotels offer nightlife tours that include a city illumination tour, dinner and a cultural show. Many of these excursions can be booked the same day so you can fit it in to your busy schedule. It is a great way to learn about the culture and meet other businesswomen on the road.

o Check to see if any museums or department stores have late night hours. Major cities such as London and Paris have extended hours at least one night a week, which is ideal for business people on the road.

International Business - Expatriate Selection

It an earlier article I noted that American companies continue to think of themselves as American, not multinational, thus assignments overseas are not viewed in a strategic totality, but rather as a nuisance that must be dealt with from time to time. So, when a requirement surfaces for a manager in China, Africa or elsewhere, there normally ensues a mad scramble to find someone willing to take the position. Overlooked is whether that person and his/her family are actually suited for the position and the required life style. The result can be an expensive disaster for both the company and the family involved.

Successful expatriates are born not made. Individuals assigned overseas must bring to the job the innate ability to live and work in a different culture and the personal characteristics necessary to adjust to a variety of business styles and ethics. Only a sharply focused selection program designed to identify the proper attributes can determine who has the "right stuff." American firms spend millions each year determining which employees should be in management or sales, why should expatriate service receive less attention?

The current practice of a 2 3 year assignment overseas as part of what is otherwise considered a stateside career will no longer suffice. Once individuals (and their families) have been identified as international material, their careers should be channeled in that direction.

Indeed, in the absence of such a career path, a position overseas can be a career breaker. Once out of company view, employees overseas can be divorced from their support systems and mentors. Often a return after a three to five year assignment can be as daunting as going abroad in the first place. Without a solid career path in place, there may be no "next" assignment.

This paper proposes that a company with international operations create career paths and succession planning for employees suited to international work in the same way they are developed for employees in other disciplines.

The first step in this process is a skills inventory. Given current computerization, there is no reason for a company not to have a complete history on each employee. And while this will not and cannot provide a complete picture of each employee, it would allow management to identify those employees who have experienced relocation, who have traveled extensively, who have multiple skills and perhaps some language capability. From this initial screening, further evaluations can be made.

Once identified, employees and their families should undergo a rigorous screening process to determine their suitability for an international assignment. This would include, in addition to their normal management capabilities, high inner work standards, a focus on results, a desire to understand and a willingness to accept and appreciate other cultures, a willingness to try new things, independence (the family can operate as a unit without large or multiple support systems), no overriding family or personal problems and most importantly - want to be there.

After qualifying for an international position, the employee should be assigned to a stateside position that coordinates international operations until such time as an overseas assignment becomes available. Of equal importance is a through grounding in corporate operations and culture.

A little understood or appreciated facet of overseas work is the role that personal relationships play in success. They are the glue that holds international operations together, particularly in the Far East. Developing and nurturing them takes time and energy. Therefore, 5 10 year assignments need to be viewed as the norm.

Establishing career paths that integrate international operations as part of a strategic whole diminishes repatriation disasters and permits the company to take a more sane approach to expatriate staffing. More importantly, when not on overseas assignment, these employees can bring much a needed global perspective to company programs and plans. Qualified and successful international employees are an expensive and important resource that should be nurtured and utilized fully.

International Business Loans: Helping Business Players Expand Globally

Expansion is a key to business growth. A business has to extend its horizons, reach more markets, and invest on possible additional sources to attain success. Expanding the business locally is a wise move, but it would still be better to extend the horizons to the global market. The global community is one large market and it would bring a business overflowing profits if it starts establishing itself to international markets. However, building a reputation internationally needs hard work and also, large funds. Fortunately, there are private banks that can provide large funds for expanding businesses.

A business may not have the capability to sustain itself financially at first. To successfully start expanding its market internationally, it must have enough funds that would be used for the investment. What private banks do is they provide a specific amount of capital that would support the starting business until it is financially independent.

Expanding globally involves a lot of spending. Shipping expenses alone costs millions worth of money. Without any financial resources to use, the expansion project may not be successful. Introducing a brand in the international scene entails a lot of risk-taking, and a company's financial resources might deplete if it will only get its funds from its own profits. Financial aid from an external source is quite important.

Establishing a reputation in the global scene is really a tough job. It may even take a long time before it can be achieved. Moreover, it takes a lot of spending too. A lot of investing should be done to become well-known in the international market. To get big business opportunities, financial sources like capital international fund are needed. Having a competitive edge does not only include smart marketing strategies, but also finding opportunities that would provide additional funds.

Wealth management is also essential in the business expansion project. Financial sources will easily deplete if not managed well. Outgoing cash should also be controlled to prevent huge losses. International business loans provide borrowers huge amounts of money to help them attain a higher standing in the business world. However, if not properly managed, they may diminish within a short time, thus making the business lacking funds for other investments.

They also act as a protection against possible risks. In case unexpected financial/property losses occurred, there would still be an extra financial resource that would help the company continue with its operations. With the aid of business loans and international capital investment that are available today, businesses can introduce themselves globally without being much affected by risks.

Nothing Brings Countries Together Like International Trade

You know what is great about international trade and international business? We can help bring nations together, and keep peace in the world. If we are able to do business with other nations regardless of their nationality or religion, or even their socioeconomic methodology then we can all be friends and do business deals. These long-lasting business relationships that we make with our international friends, vendors, and partners help bring the world closer together. Okay so let's go ahead and talk about this for second shall we?

You see, often headstrong egocentric political leaders of various nations have a tough time getting along with each other. If it wasn't for the business community helping smooth things over, and prevent these politicians and leaders from running amok, there would certainly be more world wars. Nothing brings nations closer together than international trade, if it isn't a forced endeavor, as people trade and do business with each other of their own free will. If someone can buy something for a cheaper price in another country, they can order it, and it gets shipped to them. If one party doesn't pay their bills, or if the shipment has faulty parts, then the business relation often ends.

However when things go right, a mutual respect is reached, an element of trust. But that trusts could have never been earned, nor that respect ever have been garnered without the transaction, without taking the risk, and without doing business. It is my firm belief that we should do business with every nation around the world as long as they have something to sell us, or as long as they wish to buy something that we produce. We should produce those things we are good at, and we should buy those things that we can't produce as well, or don't have the natural resources for.

It seems we ought to do less bickering on the open stage of international politics, whether the microphone is on or off, and we should be doing more trading, and encouraging free-market participation around the world. Let's not let our egomaniac leaders, from any country destroy the goodwill that is brought through international trade and commerce because nothing will bring this world together closer, or keep it together longer than businesses doing business of their own free will around this globe.

I hope you will consider all this on a philosophical basis, forget your preconceived notions, perceptions, or animosity to those of a different nationality, region, country, continent, or religion and just agree to do business when and where it makes sense, let the trust and respect build on its own, don't force it, and I think you'll see what I'm saying. Think on it.

Earning an International Business Degree Gives You a Big Advantage

Careers in international business are very rewarding and high paying and so it makes sense to earn an international business degree so that you can face up to and meet the many challenges that await you in this field.

In fact, if you want to advance in global business then you must have a relevant degree which will prove to be a major asset and which will help you achieve more success. It is quite obvious that people with a degree in international business will stand a better chance of obtaining a high paying job in international organizations as compared to those who simply possess a degree in business.

No doubt, both kinds of people are going to possess sound knowledge about business but with a degree in international business you will always have an advantage over those who do not have such a degree.

There are numerous schools out there that are offering such degrees. These schools have just one mission and that is to produce the best students who can handle the intricacies involved in doing business outside the borders of their home countries.

There are several famous schools that offer relevant degrees including names such as University of Phoenix, Walden University, Kaiser College and Argosy University. It is up to you to contact these and other colleges to find out what courses they offer, their fees and basic entrance requirements so that you know which school is offering you the kind of degree that will help further your career goals.

CEO-Senior Executives-SVPs - A Franchise Versus an International Business Working From Home

Introduction:

Many well-established employees due to this economic climate have had to pay the price by losing out on their J.O.B. After numerous surveys conducted by external agencies these interview surveys have identified that senior professionals in the 200k to 450k brackets are reluctant to go back into the workforce and have to re-establish themselves yet again. They are not prepared to have the same thing happen to them all over again and in some cases most where on their second or third time being laid off. Professionals who have made these high paying positions are looking to take control of their personal lives and be in control of their destiny. The question is what is the alternative they are looking at?

Franchises:

Many professionals have researched investing into a franchise mainly because if a franchise is a franchise it has a history of success behind it. They're either across the 50 states or they are International. Therefore it would suggest a safe bet to invest in a franchise being that there are a number of franchise's available. Actually, you have a selection to pick and choose from depending on the amount of investment one would like to invest. Choices, where would you like to start, a top end coffee shop, which can and maybe, be situated inside a Mall, plenty of traffic to sell your top end coffee to right? Along with your franchise costs, your return percentage that goes back to the franchise company and the lease costs for the shop window inside the mall. Starting off in a franchise can be expensive, actually very expensive in relation to the amount of profit left over. The more research conducted into this field it has been identified that the more up front capital invested the better the monthly return for the investor however, the question again how much does one want to invest? In some cases some of these franchises are asking over one hundred thousand dollars as a start up investment and that is a middle of the road franchise investment. A top end coffee shop in a prime location can start at 250k working 60 to 80 hours a week for a maximum of up to 80k a year return for you first 3 years. There's got to be something better out there right?

International Home Based Business/Internet Business:

It seems that a lot more research from top executives is going into opening up an Internet Business working from home and in particular an International Internet Business. The concept alone tends to be very attractive an International Business working from home. It's already a known fact that the Internet is producing more millionaires annually due to the fact that this moneymaking tool, which practically most households have i.e. the Internet, if used correctly is a money making machine providing you clearly understand Internet marketing. Additionally, no such tool has ever been available ever in our society and many people have benefited from this amazing piece of technology. More jobs, more business opportunities and more millionaires. Admittedly, there have been people who have lost money but this has to be put down to poor research, lack of Internet marketing education and more importantly lack of advertising dollars to promote the business venture.

Research however is first and foremost in relation to delving into any type of business. Albeit, it can be said that the investment into an Internet Business versus your traditional business, and what is meant by a traditional business is your restaurant, boutique, type business, which requires a typical storefront. An Internet Business storefront is the screen of your computer and the method of payment is obviously done through this wonderful tool the Internet. Typical questions that should be asked are: what type of Internet industry do you want to be involved in? How long has the company been established? The compensation plan and how do you get paid? How much is needed to invest in this business? The support system in place for new business owners? These are just some of the questions that need to be posed before venturing into an online business. Any person can thoroughly research a real online business and be able to identify a company's integrity. Highly referenced in Robert Kiyosaki & Donald Trump recent book, We Want You To Be Rich. Kiyosaki actually states that if he was to start all over again Network Marketing would be the arena that he would seriously investigate into due to the power of leverage that network marketing is able to give you at practically no cost.

Anyone and I mean anyone who has the desire and passion to start their own International Home Based Business can certainly do so. The key is identifying an established company, which has a product or products that can be distributed worldwide and they are in demand. Companies where you do not hold products and have a magnificent compensation plan so you can easily identify your earning potential based on what you personally produce. Lastly, and most importantly, the key to any successful Online Internet Business is your online marketing education, how to advertise on the Internet. Let's repeat that again, the KEY to being successful in your online business is getting educated on how to advertise on the Internet. This is Deka and Michele signing off, To Your Success.

Fighting Off International Business Competition

The modern business no longer tends to rely on just the clients inside a single country, that is, if they want to survive in the intensely competitive world we find ourselves in. Contracts are changed each and every day as companies scramble to undercut each other and promise more and more, that's why you're going to need the best communication skills you can get, especially when dealing with important overseas employers. In this article I will discuss my experiences with language translation services and how they could help you get a foot over the competition and keep those all important clients.

Imagine a scenario, you've been providing a service for a foreign customer for 3 years now and while you've been providing a good service they've decided to look elsewhere and see if they can get a better deal on what you provide. Now, this is all perfectly normal, it's not massively nice but it's basically common practice to try and cut costs (even if they're going to get a lesser service). Now, you speak English and your client speak Japanese, they are currently speaking to a French firm about the service they can offer. Which one do you think the Japanese client is likely to choose: the English speaking firm who have taken the initiative to hire a professional language translation service to remove the language barrier and get down to brass tax or the French speaking firm who have been making do with a mixture of free online translators and the guy in the office who speaks enough Japanese to get by? Yes, that's right.

But, really, that's just the short term advantage of it, in the long term you can look forward to having a consistent tone and reliability in your correspondence with other companies that can't be matched with any free online translation service. Personally, I encountered a similar situation the one I wrote about above and I can tell you, the air of professionalism that was given off by being able to send fluent emails back and forth really gave us the edge over what appeared to be an amateur in comparison to us and we kept the business for years (they're still working with us now). I believe the correct way to see it is as another string in your businesses bow, no longer will foreign customers seem like an extra burden just because of the language barrier, I don't think you can put a price on that.

Cultural Intelligence - How To Be Culture-Savvy In International Business

For those of us who travel and live in different countries on a regular basis, learning about our destinations is essential. What can I expect when I move? What will be different? What will I have to adjust to? What are the people like? How does their culture differ from mine?

These questions can go on and on. Some of us try to answer them by researching in libraries and on the internet; others go through cross-cultural training; and yet others tap into whatever expertise the online expatriate community can offer. All these sources are wonderful and they provide a wealth of information, however, they often form no more than just a base of the information required for us to become really knowledgeable about the culture, and particularly about the people we interact with.

The concept of cultural intelligence goes beyond the laundry list of do's and don'ts. It provides you with tools that help decipher - wherever you are - what's important to people you interact with, what makes them who they are, and what you can do to strike friendships, make business alliances, and establish partnerships. Cultural intelligence takes a more individual approach to learning the culture. After all, we are not made out of the same mould even if we were born and grew up in the same country. In fact, all of us represent a multiplicity of cultures - a mix of ethnic, religious, corporate, socio-political, gender and many other layers of cultures.

So, what are the tools that can help?

I. Be an active observer. I know this sounds simple but unfortunately in today's world the life is so fast that we often rush and pay no attention to our surroundings. Yet if we stop and make it our objective to observe, it's amazing how much we can actually learn. Just imagine that you have permanently perched yourself in one of those European sidewalk cafes where all you do is "people watch". What do you notice? How do people interact with each other? Which situations bring up anger and frustration? Which situations bring up positive emotions? If you are new on the job, what is the corporate environment? Which professional habits are worth taking note of? Observing will help you learn more about your surroundings; will help you understand which issues you may want to avoid with certain people and which issues you may want to explore; and, finally, observing will get you in the habit of noticing the "energy" of your companions. This energy is one of the most important indicators of what's really important to a person. What do you observe when you want to notice the energy? You want to pay attention to the (1) breathing; (2) body language (including mimics); (3) gestures; (4) voice; and (5) eyes (movement, look, blinking, direction).

II. Leave your assumptions and judgments at home. The vast majority of us look at the world through the prism of our own culture, our upbringing, and our background. This interpretation of things based solely on our own experience creates assumptions and these assumptions impede learning because we think "why learn if we already know". Unfortunately this also rings true with some forms of cross-cultural training that often create assumptions through statements such as "all Russians do ...", "all Americans like ...", "all French are ...", etc. These assumptions (and the process of assuming) effectively build a wall between us and the others. The key to avoiding it is simple - self-manage. Notice that you are assuming. This act of noticing will help in distancing your assumptions from what is real.

Another thing we do often is judge and compare ourselves to others. We judge and compare appearance, intellect, social behavior, and even cultures. However, each comparison is an illusion - an illusion that creates either a superiority or inferiority complex. Both of these contribute to misunderstandings between people; prevent them from truly knowing each other, and from building bridges and friendships. Again the first step here is to notice. Are you being judgmental? Are you thinking that you are better (or worse) than the person in front of you? Once you noticed that you are judging or engaging in a shallow comparison, self-manage. It's a simple yet powerful technique.

III. Really listen. When we are in conversation with someone, an individual or a group, we often find that our attention wanders. We may think of our lunch plans, we may be writing a to-do list in our heads, or we may be remembering a situation when whatever the speaker is talking about happened to us. By drifting in and out of "really listening" we loose vital information - and not only the information that the words convey but also the information that the speaker's "energy" is giving us. This kind of listening, the kind when we hear but we don't really listen, can be called internal listening for all that we are doing here is listening to ourselves. The external listening is the opposite of the internal listening. When you listen externally, your listen "between the lines". Your entire attention is directed towards three things: (1) what's being said, (2) how it's being said, and (3) how it affects the environment. You hear the speaker's words; notice the speaker's demeanor; and pay attention to the "energy" of the conversation. External listening helps us pick up the nuances of different behaviors and cultures much more so than the internal. How do you listen externally? You self-manage. First you learn to notice when you drift off into internal listening. Then, as soon as you do, you snap yourself back to the external level.

IV: Be curious. Learning about another culture requires a special brand of curiosity. But the truth is that we forgot how to be curious. We either lack the interest, don't want to spend the time, or consider those things insignificant. Yet people love and appreciate being asked. It shows them that you are interested and you care about their country, traditions, and culture. What kinds of questions do we ask when we truly want to know? Do you remember that when you were a child all you asked was what, when, how, and why? Close-ended questions were probably very rare in your repertoire because you truly wanted to know something. Yet as adults all we seem to do is ask close-ended questions, which, as the name rightly suggests, end the conversation before it even starts. We can learn much more if we ask curious, powerful questions - the questions that are open-ended and the questions that follow the speaker's "energy". Where is your companion most alive? Where do her eyes sparkle? Follow that aliveness with open-ended questions and you are likely to learn quite a bit about her.

V. Look for values. Values are what we honor and cherish in our lives. A value is an individual concept and, even though it's often affected by the many cultures and traditions we belong to, our own personal values are different from those of our neighbors, friends, or our co-workers. Our values drive our energies and direct our actions. Therefore, learning to read and identify the values of others is an important tool to connecting with what drives them - and with who they are. But how do you read another person's values? As you listen, observe, and ask questions, watch for that "energy" we talked about. If your new acquaintance is talking about her recent trip into the rain forest and you see the eyes sparkle, chances are that adventure is one of her values. If your friend is complaining about a rude treatment he received in a store, it might be his value of respect that got stepped on. If your co-worker shines when she gets praised for the good job that she does, one of her values might be recognition or acknowledgment. When you start living within another culture, knowing what's important to your neighbors and helping them honor those things will make you new friends and prevent conflicts.

The Cultural Intelligence process is based on a premise that to succeed in the foreign-to-us culture we need to learn, appreciate, and honor cultural differences. The components we discussed break the process into five easy-to-adopt steps and help make it part of your every day routine.

How Is an International Business Company Formed?

International business companies enable businessmen throughout the world to conduct business seamlessly by streamlining the business of monetary transactions. The benefits of the services rendered by International Business companies are many. These IBC's set up their presence in offshore locations to take advantage of the relaxed taxation laws which are enforced upon them in such locations. Since these banks deal with a huge amount of money transactions, any tax laws are of great advantage to them as well as their customers since the customers are now paying much lesser taxes than before and also they need not worry about their identity being divulged since the law states that IBC's in offshore locations do not need to reveal the identity of the owners of the IBC as long as the required registration fees and other payments are made with respect to setting up the company. One of the main advantages of holding an IBC for very high income persons or similar is that it gives them the privacy which may not be possible for them if the same account was operated in their home country.

Also, since privacy these days is a primary concern for the safety of these high net worth individuals, it is imperative that these people have at least one stake in an IBC to increase their certainty about being safe both financially and legally. It does not cost a whole lot to form an IBC and on the contrary anyone with a reasonable amount of money can be the owner of an IBC. With respect to IBC's, even the owners are termed as members according to the laws governing the IBC formation.

Countries in the Caribbean are especially known for having laws which favour the formation of IBC's. Hence one can find a high percentage of IBC's that are around the world to be in and around the Caribbean islands. There is a variation of IBC which is present in the United States. However, this unit known as the LLC or Limited Liability Company is not tax-free unless it is operated from an Offshore Financial Centre rather than the mainland of the States. If you are a member of such an IBC and you are also a citizen of the United States, then you are required by law to submit to tax reviews and pay your share of taxes. Because the taxes payable by the IBC owners to the country where the IBC is established is a fixed amount, there are not many losses that are incurred on the part of the owner.

Efforts are on these days by the organisations known as the Financial Action Task force (FATF) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to ensure that the money that flows into the banks are legitimate and aren't untaxed in the region from where the money comes from. This is essential since in many instances, these IBC's have been set up by unscrupulous people for purposes that are sinister in nature and this in turn poses a risk to everyone involved because money that has no source is usually used to fund the activities of terrorists in order to be able to cover their tracks. Thus although IBC formation has many advantages there are also some disadvantages which pose a threat to the industry as a whole.

International Business Card Etiquette

If you plan to do business internationally, it is important to understand the cultural significance of business cards and the etiquette that surrounds them in each country. A good rule is to view the business card as a personal representation of one's self. In North America and the United Kingdom, business card etiquette is easy to understand and quick to learn. Cards must be clean and well-kept but they may be carried loose in one's pocket and can be used to make notes. At the beginning of each meeting, one card is presented to each attendee.

For international use, it is important to provide a translation of the card information on the reverse side. For accuracy, please hire a professional translation agency. The card needs the basic information: name, title, company, and contact information. By using a professional translation agency, you will be made aware of cultural nuances. Depending on the country, there are specific paper and ink preferences.

CEO of Culture Coach International (CCI), Kari Heistad writes, "Understanding the norms and values of the local culture while traveling internationally helps to avoid giving offense. Observing the appropriate etiquette communicates respect and facilitates communication. In many parts of the globe a business card carries much greater significance than a handy means to trade contact information. For the most part, the exchange of cards occurs at the beginning or end of the initial meeting although this detail should be clarified for any given nation before traveling there."

In Japan, the business card is treated with respect and honor and there is a lot of ceremony involved with presenting and receiving cards. When you are offered a card, receive it with both hands; bow, and express appreciation for the meeting. It is polite to examine the card and make a comment. Please note that it is rude to put the card away immediately. It is also unacceptable to use the blank areas to make notes.

In China, it is important to present your card before asking for one. As in Japan, accept the card with both hands; bow, and thank the person for the opportunity to meet them. Review the card and try to make a small comment or clarification. Again, do not put the card away and do not write on the blank areas. And, absolutely do not put it in your back pocket - this is a big insult.

In India, there is no need to translate your card as English is widely spoken in the Indian business world. Make sure you have plenty of cards as business cards are exchanged in non-business or social situations. In most Islamic countries, you should present and receive cards with your right hand because one never knows what you might have been doing with your left hand.

Knowing the cultural nuances of the country you are visiting is an important business skill. By not presenting and receiving cards in a positive manor, you may insult your business associates. Customs that are accepted in one country may not be accepted in another. It is up to you to consult a translation and interpretation company in order to be prepared.

The Importance of Internal Business Communication

There are a number of tasks in any company or business that must be accomplished every day, and employees would not be able to achieve this without proper communication. Internal business communication comes in many different forms. One form is through team members. Teamwork is a vital part of many business operations. Teams are gathered together to discuss various issues that have arisen in order to find solutions to various problems within the company. Teams also work to solve many different logistical problems, as well as find ways to put the strategies into actionable plans that will only serve to help the company grow.

It is also often necessary for separate teams to communicate in order to discuss important issues that may possibly overlap departments. Since it is important that every team have a specific purpose, the communication between each will ensure all efforts are being concentrated on different individual aspects of the business.

Company managers also communicate with their employees on a daily basis to discuss the progress of various plans, as well as the situations that have resulted from certain plans of action. Managers are there to guide, but they are also there to listen. During business communication, listening is just important as talking, and company owners have no choice but to learn how to be good listeners as well as effective speakers.

Employees will also need to talk to one another about different customer-related concerns or issues. These may even stretch from one department to another, but there will be situations that will require the communication of two or more people from different locations within the company. This will promote efficiency and make overall business operation run more smoothly as everyone learns to work together.

When new products are introduced, communication will be a very important part of the process. Each team will need to communicate with the others to ensure the product is conceived, manufactured, and offered to the public in a manner that appears seamless. This is what makes businesses gain good reputations, and is what ensures those good reputations will stick.

Are You Really a Global Business?

Okay so you're on the web and you're building your business. You're building a global business now...or are you?

Hopping online to find out the definition of global, I came upon 26.8 million entries and all of them basically said the same thing. The definition of "Global" means "involving the entire earth; not limited or provincial in scope; international".

So if you as a professional are offering various services and are purporting yourself to be International, then are you reaching out to your entire audience and connecting with them.

I've had a 'pet peeve' for a little while because I see a lot of online businesses that state there are international or global and yet, people outside of their region cannot get access to them or their products without spending thousands of dollars.

Here are 5 tips to truly promote yourself as a truly international business:

(1) Teleseminars are easy ways to market your products or services, but quite a few international persons cannot access your live calls without paying hundreds of dollars. There are some places in the world that charge over $2 per minute to call certain countries in the world!

Make it easy for your clients or prospects.

Some marketers are now using webinars or InstantTeleseminar.com, both of which allow people to listen via the web.

(2) Review your website. Does it make it easy for ALL visitors to contact you?

Are you using a live chat feature?

Do you have any Skype contact information so international persons can use free Skype-to-Skype calling to purchase your products?

Do you have a contact form on your site so visitors can contact you NOW rather than going into their email program and creating a new message to you?

(3) Promoting your events way too late is a 'no-no'.

This is particularly upsetting when your favorite marketer is putting on a grand live event or program and has been 'seeding' it in their ezine for a while. Then you've been away from your email for a while and realize that you missed a deadline to get a great discount or the event or program actually starts next week!

Yikes!

You must remember that all your customers are not online 24-hrs per day to instantly take advantage of your promotions right away.

If you truly are an international business and not a national or regional one, then you need to give your customers time to sign up for your fabulous programs by promoting them way in advance.

Of course this advance period will depend on if it's a live one (we recommend 6 months for a live event) or at least 4-6 weeks for a program.

(4) Do you have a currency converter on your site or a link to one?

Most of the world automatically assume that any number after the dollar sign ($) is United States Dollars. The USD is in fact a globally recognized currency and persons around the world do seem to know their country's exchange rate to the USD.

However, it sends a strong psychological message to your buyers that YES, they too are important enough to include a currency converter on the site.

(5) Do you have downloadable information products or e-products for purchase?

It is a great idea to offer 2 options for every product (if you can and if it makes sense). One option is an instant download version and the other is a shippable version.

International customers LOVE downloadable products because they are quick to consume; they don't have to deal with Customs in their country which means additional money to actually get the product in their hands and they are cheaper to purchase.

I hope you've gotten some great ideas and will implement a few of them to expand your business to a more global network.

Going global means playing a bigger game.

A Liberty League International Business Review

If you have done any research about making money online or starting a home based business, you have probably come across advertisements for Liberty League International. Their ads usually catch the eye because of how flashy and elaborate they are. This article will go over a quick review of Liberty League International, what they are about and if the company may be right for you.

Liberty League International - The Basic Idea

Liberty League International falls into the network marketing or direct marketing industry. The company uses independent reps, or advisors as they like to call them, to promote their products and services through many different advertising methods. Commissions are earned basically on your ability to recruit new advisors into the company, which will be explained later in this article. A quick point to notice about the compensation plan is that recruiting will be an endless task since the commissions are earned based upon an older compensation structure in the network marketing industry. The people you recruit eventually 'break away' from you and no longer benefit you financially, forcing you to find new recruits. Why companies still use this old pay structure confuses me since it makes no sense to have someone you have worked hard with end up 'breaking away' from you and no longer benefit you.

Liberty League International Product Line

The product line includes self-help and personal improvement services and courses. First is a 90 day home study course that helps direct your beliefs and goals towards success. The course retails for $1495. The next two are a 3 day and 7 day seminar conference. These conferences are an in depth study of the home study course. You will be trained by guest speakers flown in to teach you how to apply the success techniques in the study course. The seminars are $7995 and $12,995 respectively and are always held in very exclusive exotic locations. The benefit you get from these seminars depends solely on your ability to apply the techniques taught by the guest speakers in your everyday life.

The 'Two Up' Compensation Plan

The way the 'two up', 'pass up' or 'aussie two' compensation plan works is very accurately named because you literally 'pass up' your first two sales to your sponsor or mentor. Without going into extreme detail, this plan can be very lucrative for an experienced marketer but is usually very difficult for the newbie rep. First off its hard to sell a product with a high retail cost of nearly $13,000 and then having to give up the profit to you mentor for the first couple sales. Second, since you are going to 'break away' from your mentor after your first two sales do you really think your mentor is going to give you all the knowledge you need to succeed when your going to be his competition soon. He will probably give you just enough knowledge to get your first two sales (which go to him any way) and then the much needed mentorship and training needed by a newbie in this fast paced industry is no longer available. This doesn't promote teamwork, and teamwork is needed to succeed in the network marketing industry.

Conclusion

So, if you are a seasoned network marketer and can sell the high priced products Liberty League International Would probably be very lucrative for you. If not, i would suggest doing more research and finding a company that promotes teamwork and synergy in its compensation plan. Examples are when you make a sale you and your mentor make money causing him to want to help you continue making sales. Also, make sure you never 'break away' from your mentor so teamwork will be a staple in your business. This kind of plan promotes what Zig Ziglar said 'you can get everything you want in life, if you just help enough other people get what they want.'

International Business Negotiation Training

As anyone is the business world can tell you, business negotiations have gone global. With a new interest in the global marketplace, you will likely at some point act as a negotiator with counterparts from other countries. You will undoubtedly find it to be in your best business interests to learn more about international business negotiation. This type of negotiating can be learned through specialized training courses. With an effective trainer to help, you can gain new skills in the area of business negotiating to make you a more effective negotiator.

Preparing for these specialized negotiations may take longer than the negotiation sessions with which you are familiar. You will need translators for speakers of all languages involved, so that all will be able to understand what is happening in the meeting. It is to your advantage to learn enough of each language that will be spoken to at least be able to greet all of the negotiators in person. This will add a personal touch that will help set a friendly tone for the rest of the meeting. In addition, you will need to become familiar with manners and customs of people from the different cultures with whom you will be negotiating. Not only will this go a long way toward helping them to relax and feel comfortable in the meeting, but it will help you to avoid social faux pas that might damage a fledgling business relationship and hamper the business negotiations.

As with other sorts of business negotiating, you will want to prepare by learning the level of interest each party has in reaching an agreement about the situation in question. This may help you to leverage your terms in a way that will appeal to the other parties. Understanding what your counterparts in the negotiation would like to achieve will help you in planning ahead for counter offers that might be appealing to them. Clearly understanding which parts of the terms you offer are nonnegotiable and which could be changed in order to reach agreement on the big ticket items is a vital component in your preparation strategy, so that you will have this to draw upon when you construct various counteroffers.

Sometimes the differing parties will not be able to agree on solutions. You will want to know what the minimum solution is with which your company can live. It may be best in a difficult international business negotiation, to try to reach agreement on smaller matters first. After doing so, you can attempt to build upon that agreement and work your way up to the more pressing issues. As with any negotiations, you will want to get an oral agreement as well as a written one by the end of a successful session. Having it in writing makes it more binding, and the solution more permanent for all parties involved.

International Business - a Need of Today For a Better Tomorrow?

International Business is just a fancy way of talking about the commercial transactions taking place between nations. But this does not mean that only the governments can do international business. In fact, private companies indulge in it more regularly and come out with unimaginable profit. The governments doing international business have more political and dark reasons for doing so, although profit comes with it as well.

Companies indulging in this type of overseas business are referred to as Multi National Companies. These aren't just limited to one field but each field has its own MNC. Take a look at McDonalds, its found in a staggering 119 countries, its signature yellow M on red is understood worldwide, regardless of the language one converses in. also the operating income generate yearly is an eye opening $3.9 billion! Another example is the sports giant Nike. Expanded into a surprising 46 countries, Nike earns yearly revenue of $18.6 billion! Other examples include the renowned car manufacturers of Toyota and the brilliantly masterminded Microsoft Corporation.

People studying business are no doubt very learned. They have to study the differences in legal systems present worldwide in order to negotiate the affairs of their companies properly. A very detailed and thorough study of import and export regulations is also necessary if they want to remain top notch in their field. Political systems and economic policies, which are often a hindrance to the Multi National Company's success, are also areas of study within this vast subject.

The recent increase in globalization has caused an increase in the need for such MNC's that can handle international business are transactions single handedly. The governments have been removing international business restrictions and this allows the generation of greater profits, especially as the technology employed in transport and communication is expanding day by day. Considering the fact that the political relationships between the major economic powers are no longer bleak and that rising transnational issues have created a window of opportunity of immense expansion and profit, the MNC's are making their international business ties stronger and stronger day by day. We must study international business as understanding it can help us in making better career decisions.

Do you know how you will be compensated? If you become a distributor with Nutronix, you will be selling its flagship products of 'The New Silver Solution', Cellfood products and O2 alkalizing products through its international distributor base.

You will be working on a network marketing system for your compensation plan. Your residual income begins when you sponsor a Nutronix distributor in your 'Powerline'. Additionally sponsored members will fall onto lower levels, one under the other, creating "spillover". As members spillover under you, you can earn Powerline Residual Income on them, even if you didn't sponsor them.

3) Truth About Nutronix

Even when you are a hard worker your leverage really comes from your powerline members in the Nutronix system. You can recruit massively but the real rewards is the residual income that your downline creates for you. Hence, your goal would be to have a large group volume.

While you could always train your team to duplicate your Nutronix recruiting success, it creates a sense that you will always need to depend on your team growth. Your best chance of a higher level of success is to develop an effective online marketing plan.

What is Reliv International Business? A MLM Home Business Review

Reliv International came into existence in 1988 with a vision to Nourish the world. The founders Robert and Sandy Montgomery wanted to give not only high quality nutrition but also a business opportunity that would help people financially. Their products high quality cam from a close friendship with well known micro biologist Dr. Theodore Kalogris. Through the Doctors research a product line was started that provides a full days nutrition in a highly absorbable form.

Reliv International Product Line

Reliv International is one of the now many companies that offer nutritional products. The three Reliv product lines are basic nutrition, weight control and a targeted solutions line.

The first line is the basics like vitamins and minerals. This foundation nutrition product is called Reliv Classic and Now. The weight control line is called simplicity and utilizes new advances in dietary knowledge to focus on making a quality diet product line with dietary pills, shakes, appetite suppressants and a planner.

The targeted product lines address specific health concerns like digestive health, blood sugar, energy, joint, heart, women's and even children's health. These product lines can be added to the base nutrition products for increased focus on specific health problems or simply for prevention.

The Business Opportunity and Compensation

The Reliv International business is a part of the MLM industry which offers people a work from home opportunity. To begin with Reliv you must first apply for $39.95. Once you are a distributor you can buy Reliv products at a 20%-40% discount depending on what level your at in the company, and sell them at retail.

You also get paid a percentage difference on products sold by people in your organization. An example of this would be if you were at a 40% level and a distributor below you was at a 25% level, you would make the extra 15% difference every time he sells a product until he is at the same 40% level as you. Once they are at the same level as you they, along with their group of distributors, breaks away from you. At this point you will make 8% on the groups first level, 6% on the 2nd, 4% on the 3rd, 3% on the 4th and 2% on the 5th.

Conclusion

So, is Reliv International a scam. Obviously not, but you have to decide if you want to promote products to your family and friends hoping they will buy, attend and promote hotel meetings and hold home product presentations to try and sell and move your product.

A person who really believes in the product line may do well with Reliv but you must realize an industry fact that an average of 90% or more of distributors will drop out of an MLM business. Since your real income stream comes from the percentage of money earned off of your distributors sales, it is usually very difficult to make a significant income when distributors continually drop out of your organization. Also, once your contact of list of family and friends is exhausted, where do you get new leads to continue building your organization.

So, make sure you have a way of producing quality leads that are interested in what you have to offer whether it be traditional advertising or online marketing methods. This marketing and lead generating will be essential to continued growth for your business.

Selling Your Company - International Relationships Can Offer a High Return

Building international relationships early can help you get a better price when selling your business.

If an owner has a long-term strategy of preparing a business for sale, what are the advantages to them of seeking international relationships now?

If they take steps to build international relationships early, they're certainly going to know a lot about the international market, or the market for their products in a particular country.

And even if you end up selling your business to an American, the fact that you have an international outlet, international business relationships and a position in a foreign market makes your company more valuable and will generally attract a higher price.

Let's take a step back to the beginning of the process. How would someone identify a foreign buyer?

It's a lot harder to find an international buyer but, if you think about it and plan for it, you may already have international relationships that can bring you important information.

You've already had international customers and your international customer may be a potential buyer. Your customer may want to move in to production or service in this country, so think about your own foreign customers.

Secondly, you may have foreign competitors. A foreign competitor may be a potential buyer of your business.

There are also consultants and investment bankers who make it their business to stay in touch with potential clients abroad and with the marketing, the economic situation and business situation in particular countries.

Then think about your product, the product that you're making or service that you are rendering. Are there particular parts of the world where you think that service or that product might have a special value? It may not being provided as well as you provide it. So that may lead you in appropriate directions.

What happens when you start getting involved in discussions about selling to foreign companies?

When we talk about developing negotiation strategy, one of the important questions to ask is what are the potential interests of the other side? And you need to think hard about that.

Is it simply because you're a competitor and they want to get you out of the market, or is it this is a foothold in the business? What is it that the potential buyers might see in your business? What value might they see in your business that may lead you to think about particular companies to buy it?

The other thing to consider is exchange rates. The assets of your business may seem cheap to a foreign buyer because of the relationship between that foreign buyer's currency and the US dollar.

And if the US dollar is weak against the country of a strong currency, your business in local foreign currency terms may seem quite attractive to a potential buyer. So you need to think about the differentials and exchange rates, monetary exchange rates in developing a strategy for selling your business.

The other thing you have to think about is if you sell your business, what is your role going to be after the sale?

Are you simply going to take your money and go to Florida and play golf, or do you want a role in that business? A foreign buyer may want you to have a role in the business as a consultant.

Your business is a lot more than the assets on the factory floor. A lot of it is the knowledge in your head. You have certain contacts, you have certain business relationships.

A foreign buyer may realize that that's going to take a long time before those relationships can be transferred to them; and therefore, that buyer may want to keep you on in some role to help them make this very important transition.

Often for them what is really important is the relationship, the true connection, between the company and their customers.

Also the foreign buyer has got a lot to learn about American culture, American business practices, and you as the former owner can help with that immensely.

Maybe in terms of making your sale attractive to a foreign buyer you might indicate your willingness to be involved and to help the transition take place.

Effective Multi Cultural International Business Meetings

Of the many areas in international business where cultural differences manifest is in the corporate meeting room. International meetings are an area where differences in cultural values, etiquette, interpretations of professional conduct and corporate rules are at their most visible and challenging to control.

In international business meetings, cultural differences between professionals can and do clash. Although it can not always be avoided, the negative effects of cultural differences can be minimised with careful and effective planning, organisation and consideration prior to meetings.

Culture influences what we do, say, think and believe. Culture is different in different countries and contexts. In the context of international business it affects how people approach, perceive and contribute towards meetings. A few examples include:

Time

Not all cultures live by the clock. Time orientated cultures such as the British or Germans will have strict approaches to how meetings run. The start time, finishing time and all the different stages in between will be planned carefully. Other cultures will see the start time as an approximation, the finish time as non-fixed and all the different stages in between as flexible.

Hierarchy

The hierarchical nature of a culture can have a massive impact on the input given by participants in an international meeting. For those from hierarchical cultures speaking one's mind, criticising ideas, disagreeing openly, giving feedback and reporting problems in front of the boss or manager are all areas they would feel uncomfortable with. To offer a criticism of the manager's idea would be seen as a loss of face for both the manager and the criticiser.

The Purpose of Meetings

After a few pleasantries in the meeting room, the common term in the West is, 'let's get down to business'. Western meetings generally run to a tight schedule with an organised, pre-planned agenda. Meetings are for business. On the other hand, different cultures see the meeting as the arena for building personal relationships and strengthening bonds. Getting down to business comes further down the priority list.

When chairing an international business meeting it is always advisable to bear in mind the attendees' cultures and backgrounds. Is it a very varied group or do the majority of participants have cultural similarities? Think about their approaches to meetings. How have they acted in meetings before? Can you identify the cultural reason why?

Following are some guidelines that may assist you when approaching cultural diversity in your next international business meeting.

Meeting Etiquette and Mannerisms

In highly diverse international companies, one can find participants in a meeting from the four corners of the globe. Each will have their own cultural etiquettes, gestures, mannerisms and ways of expression. Shouting, throwing hands around and even storming out of meetings are all possibilities. In such a company it may be advisable to provide inter-cultural awareness training to staff to minimise misunderstandings. Where differences are not as acute it may be up to you as the chair to understand how certain etiquettes, gestures and general meeting room tactics may be perceived and how you can minimise any adverse impact.

Expectations of Meetings

Prior to the meeting make it clear what the purpose of the meeting will be. What is the goal of the meeting? Why are you asking each attendant? What do expect from them? Contact the participants and discuss the meeting and what you require of each person. If ready, send them the agenda. If it is a brainstorming meeting then maybe ask each participant to bring at least three suggestions with them. If it is a meeting bringing together different areas within a company, let each attendant know what people would like to hear about from them. Once a framework is in place people will know where they fit into the picture.

Take a Relaxed Approach to Meetings

Many people find business meetings daunting. This may be a combination of stage fright, sitting in front of the boss and feeling inferior to colleagues. This will lead to anxiety, tension, nervousness and general discomfort. Try introducing subtle differences to a meeting to put people at ease. Ice breakers offer a good tension release at the beginning of a meeting. Warm ups offer a similar benefit. Try using an alternative setting instead of the meeting room. Consider changes in the lighting or ambience.

Group Sizes in Meetings

In short, small groups will work more effectively in meetings. Smaller groups offer increased security and allow for greater participation. In international business meetings, using smaller groups can be used in two ways.

First, prior to a large international business meeting identify who will be coming and what they can contribute. Will the meeting cover different topics? Will it require input from different business areas? If you are organised enough you can initiate some smaller meetings where you group participants who are comfortable with one another or who share expertise in the same area. Ask the groups to take their conclusions to the next, larger, meeting. Participants there will now feel comfortable with their contributions and ideas.

Second, if the company culture allows, break your meeting up into smaller groups where feedback and open discussion may flow more easily. Then ask a delegated head of each group to summarise their findings. This may allow those who would not normally speak out in front of larger groups to get their views across.

Multi-Cultural Meetings

A major mistake made when dealing with diverse cultures in one meeting room is to suggest that those of similar backgrounds work, group or be seated together. Rather than allow for greater fluency in the meeting this will have the opposite affect. Once cosy in their cultural groups, participants will slip into their cultural patterns. It is vital you mix up your meeting. The additional benefit to this approach is that it allows for cross cultural interpersonal relationships to develop, strengthening staff bonds.

Alternative Communication Methods in Meetings

Most international meetings take on a basic format and structure whereby an agenda is set and attendants contribute to the topic of discussion orally. If you have participants who potentially will be very quiet and non-participatory then consider some alternative methods of communication.

For example, prior to the meeting, e-mail members of staff some questions regarding the forthcoming topics. Give them open-ended questions as to their opinions. Ask them to e-mail back their replies which can then be used to instigate their contribution in the meeting.

If you know some participants are uncomfortable speaking, then why not let them write? Either use a white board or offer to take suggestions and opinions on paper?

Always Confirm Meanings in Meetings

Different cultural assumptions as to the meaning of a word, phrase, symbol, picture or agreement can cause confusion before and after a meeting. When approaching a topic or after consensus has been agreed upon a subject always confirm that the general meaning has been agreed upon and understood. Where potential problems may exist as to interpretation always simplify meanings. If the meeting will deal with complex language or concepts consider forming a consensus on the meaning all participants will be comfortable with, then circulating them in advance of the meeting for review.

At the end of a meeting, summarise and capture the main agreements and disagreements. Ensure everyone is happy with them.

International business meetings require great planning, organisation and consideration if they are to succeed in offering effective outcomes. Always consider the cultural variants you will be dealing with and think of ways to overcome potential problems. The above mentioned tips are merely basic pointers that will hopefully help you start to think about how culture impacts international meetings.

Procard International Business Opportunity - Review - Conclusion: There is no doubt PCI is a legitimate corporation offering a legal business opportunity. The company offers help for you to succeed but probably not for you to become as wealthy in as short a time as you'd like.
